Stone veneer panels, often called ledgestone or stacked stone panels, are strips of natural stone pieces bonded together into a single unit. Instead of fitting hundreds of small stones one at a time, the installer sets panels that already have the tight, layered dry-stack look built in.
The original East West Stone catalog described its veneered panel ledge as suitable for homes, corporate buildings and public landscapes. The idea still holds: panels are one of the fastest ways to give a wall the look of hand-stacked natural stone.
Suggested uses:
Interior and exterior walls
Fireplaces and chimney breasts
Columns and archways
Pool and spa walls
Kitchen backsplashes
Outdoor kitchens
Panels are installed as adhered veneer. On wood-framed walls, the wall is first covered with a water-resistive barrier, flashing and corrosion-resistant lath, then a mortar scratch coat. A weep screed at the base lets any water behind the stone drain out. On sound concrete or block, panels can often be set after cleaning and preparing the surface.
Corner pieces go first so outside corners read as solid stone, then flat panels are staggered so vertical joints do not line up. Because panels interlock along their stepped ends, careful layout keeps the courses level across long walls.

No. This website no longer sells stone products. Similar ledgestone panels are widely available from stone yards and masonry suppliers in San Diego County.
The panels described on this page were natural stone, such as slate, quartzite, gneiss and travertine, assembled into panels. Manufactured ledgestone panels made from cast concrete also exist.
Yes. The original suggested uses included exterior walls, pools, spas and outdoor kitchens. Outdoor installations need proper moisture management behind the panels.
