Midnight Sky was one of the dark colors in the original Natural Ledge range: a slate in charcoal and blue-black tones. The original gallery page showed examples of Natural Ledge pieces in this color, and the same color was offered in wall caps suggested for stepping stones, exterior flooring, fireplace hearths and planter walls.
Dark slate ledgestone makes a strong contrast against white stucco, light wood and green planting, which is why it remains a favorite for modern facades and fireplace walls.
Suggested uses:
Stepping stones (caps)
Exterior flooring (caps)
Fireplace hearths
Planter wall caps
Feature walls
Fireplace surrounds
Dark stone absorbs more heat in direct sun, so for paving or seat-wall caps in sunny San Diego yards, consider where people will walk or sit barefoot. On vertical walls this matters less.
Pairing a dark wall with a matching flat cap gives planters and garden walls a finished edge and protects the top of the wall from water. A cap with a slight overhang and slope sheds water away from the stone face.

The original product pages listed Midnight Sky as a slate. As the name suggests, it sat at the dark end of the color range, in charcoal and blue-black tones.
No. The original product photos are not reproduced here. The photos show dark stone walls and caps that illustrate a similar look.
Dark stone absorbs more sunlight and can become hot on horizontal surfaces in summer. Use lighter stone where people walk barefoot, or place dark stone where it gets shade.
